The WINNER of the $8000 Solar Power System from Sponsor Air, Wind & Solar
The lucky winner is Mike Weber!!! Air, Wind & Solar will be going to his home this Friday, June 13th for roof measurements and installation planning. Mike is said to be “very excited.”
Sponsor Air Wind & Solar gave away an installed solar power system valued at $8,000 to one lucky attendee of this year’s Heart of Texas Green Expo. This is a complete, turn-key system including permits, paperwork, labor, materials etc.

present the Heart of Texas Green Expo at the Bastrop Convention Center.

Innovative Water Solutions, Inc is giving away a 1000 gallon rainwater system. At the end of June, IWS will draw June’s winner which will include everyone from the Expo. Their NEW WEBSITE rainwaterdecade.com IS NOW ACTIVE and anyone can go there and enter for the drawing. One entry is given for coming to the site and if you use any of the designated social media an entry is given for each one used.
Here’s the great part: if you come to the their booth at the Expo, you’ll receive 10 entries plus, if you give a donation to KBCB at the Expo, you’ll receive 10 MORE entries.
Heart of Texas Green Expo 2014 Speakers/ Performers
11 AM Gina LaMotte, Founder and Executive Director, Eco-Rise Youth Innovations
Gina will speak on the EcoRise school curriculum, which is designed to empower youth to tackle real-world challenges in their schools and communities by teaching environmental literacy, social innovation, and hands-on design skills.
12 Noon Laura Freeman, Singer/Songwriter
Laura will perform in the children’s area with her zany mix of songs about planets of the solar system, colors of the rainbow, math, and monsters! Come roar and stomp around with her!
1:00 pm Forum: The Future of the Lower Colorado River Basin
The Lower Colorado River Basin Coalition will share information regarding current and proposed policies affecting the river, flood protection, and the environmental impact of impending actions. If you love the river, or are just concerned about water policy in central Texas, you need to come to this session!
3 PM John Dromgoole, The Natural Gardener
You’ve heard him on the radio and seen him on TV! Come explore his extensive knowledge of organic gardening, using methods that protect the environment while enriching the soil and growing healthier plants. John Dromgoole is owner of The Natural Gardener in Austin and founder of Lady Bug Natural Brand soils, compost and other gardening products. He is also the well-known host of the long-running weekly radio call-in show “Gardening Naturally” online and on KLBJ-AM 590 radio in Austin. John also hosts a classic country music show on the nonprofit community radio station KDRP 100.1 FM in Austin, the only solar-powered radio station in Texas.
4 PM Scott Hardy aka ‘ScottyRoo’, Singer/Songwriter
Come hear Scotty Roo sing “kid songs by a former kid”! He and his wife, Christine, will perform songs in the Children’s Area with an interest in the environment and local farming and farmer’s markets.

Come to The Expo and Ride in an ELECTRIC CAR!!!
Clay Cooley Nissan is one of the sponsors of the Heart of Texas Green Expo this year and will be bringing 2 all electric Nissan Leafs (Leaves?) One for display on the front porch of the Bastrop Convention Center and one for taking people for rides. They say that once you ride in an all-electric car, you’re hooked!
